Undressed #1
I have always been fascinated by negative space. Depicting something by not depicting is seems like the ultimate challenge, and makes artwork instantly more interesting. I have failed to do that here.
Initially I wanted to show the undressing by only painting the skin and leaving the dress and the surroundings to the imagination. Purely by the shape of the revealed skin and the position of the hand, you can see the cloth and also the direction of the movements.
The Chinese newspaper which was meant to be a background only, I applied with folds. Less effect negative use of space perhaps, but to emphasize the folding of the dress.
